An outdoor family photoshoot at Wymondham Windmill, Rutland

This lovely family joined me for an outdoor family photoshoot in Wymondham, Rutland, making the most of the beautiful countryside surrounding Wymondham Windmill. With their gorgeous toddler and their four-legged friend in tow, it was the perfect setting for a relaxed, natural family session.

We spent time exploring the woodland and surrounding countryside, allowing their little one to run, play and simply enjoy being outdoors. Their dog was very much part of the fun too, and I loved capturing all those little interactions between them as a family.

They were such a lovely family to photograph, and the whole session felt so relaxed and natural. Rather than focusing on lots of posed photographs, we let their toddler lead the way, using the surroundings to create playful moments and genuine connection between them all.

I love outdoor family photography in Rutland for exactly this reason. Beautiful countryside, plenty of space for little ones (and dogs!) to explore, and the opportunity to capture your family exactly as they are. These are the photographs that tell the story of this stage of your family life, the little hands, muddy shoes, big laughs and everything in between.

As a Rutland family photographer, I offer relaxed outdoor family photoshoots in and around Rutland, including beautiful countryside locations such as Wymondham and the surrounding villages.

“I came across Jess through the power of social media. My little boy was about to turn one and there was something about Jess’ photography style that just screamed out to me - I had to book her! I can honestly say we were not disappointed. In complete truth, I was blown away!
Jess captured my little family (dog included!) perfectly 🤍 She was a natural with my son, us and the dog - giving clear directions without pushing or making us feel uncomfortable, staged or posed!
She drove out to us, braved the mud of the nature trail and spent a lot of time and effort into getting the sweetest photos!

We highly recommend Jess and I can’t wait to find another reason to book her again 🤍”

Forget the stiff poses… let’s have some fun!

My approach to family photography is all about capturing your family exactly as you are, for eg. the laughs, the cuddles, the chaos and all those little moments that make your family yours. I’m not looking for everyone to stand perfectly still and smile at the camera; I want your photographs to feel natural, full of personality and, most importantly, like you.

My family photoshoots take place outdoors in beautiful locations in and around Rutland, giving everyone plenty of space to explore, play and simply enjoy being together. Whether that means running through a field, throwing leaves, having a cuddle, playing with the kids or letting them do their own thing for a while, I’ll gently guide you throughout the session while allowing the moments to naturally unfold.

I’ll always have a loose plan in my head, but I’m a big believer that the best photographs often happen when we stop trying to make them happen. I’ll give you plenty of prompts and little things to do together rather than asking you to constantly pose, so even if you’re someone who feels awkward in front of the camera, you’ll never be left wondering what you’re supposed to do!

Children don’t always want to sit still and smile, and that’s absolutely fine. In fact, I’d much rather embrace their energy and capture their real personalities than spend the whole session trying to get the “perfect” photograph. Sometimes the photographs you didn’t plan for end up being the ones you love the most.

My aim as a Rutland family photographer is to create a relaxed and fun experience where you can forget about the camera and simply spend some quality time together. Whether you’re looking for family photographs with little ones, a session with older children, or simply want to document this stage of your family life, we’ll create a gallery full of genuine connection and memories for you to look back on.

So come prepared to run, play, laugh and get a little bit messy, I’ll take care of the photographs.
