A relaxed family session at home in Leicester
This was such a lovely family photography session in Leicester, photographing this wonderful family at home with their gorgeous baby and, of course, their four-legged family member too.
As they had a little one at home, we kept things relaxed and comfortable with an at-home family photoshoot, making use of the different spaces and natural moments around their home. It was such a lovely way to capture this stage of family life without having to worry about getting everyone out the door with a baby!
They were such a warm, chatty and genuinely lovely family, and I could have happily stayed chatting with them all day. Their session was full of cuddles, little interactions and those everyday moments that make family photographs feel so personal.
Sometimes the most meaningful photographs are created right at home, surrounded by the people (and pets!) you love most.
As a family photographer covering Leicester, Rutland and the surrounding areas, I offer relaxed, natural family photography both outdoors and at home, creating photographs that capture your family and this little chapter exactly as it is.
“Wow! We had our first ever family photoshoot in the comfort of our home with our 10 week old baby. Jess was so calm, considerate and patient with our baby and dog and I wouldnt of wanted anyone else to do them and then she produced the gallery which was more than perfect! It took me over a week to choose! Thank you Jess, highly recommend to any first time parents :)”

Forget the stiff poses… let’s have some fun!
My approach to family photography is all about capturing your family exactly as you are, for eg. the laughs, the cuddles, the chaos and all those little moments that make your family yours. I’m not looking for everyone to stand perfectly still and smile at the camera; I want your photographs to feel natural, full of personality and, most importantly, like you.
My family photoshoots take place outdoors in beautiful locations in and around Rutland, giving everyone plenty of space to explore, play and simply enjoy being together. Whether that means running through a field, throwing leaves, having a cuddle, playing with the kids or letting them do their own thing for a while, I’ll gently guide you throughout the session while allowing the moments to naturally unfold.
I’ll always have a loose plan in my head, but I’m a big believer that the best photographs often happen when we stop trying to make them happen. I’ll give you plenty of prompts and little things to do together rather than asking you to constantly pose, so even if you’re someone who feels awkward in front of the camera, you’ll never be left wondering what you’re supposed to do!
Children don’t always want to sit still and smile, and that’s absolutely fine. In fact, I’d much rather embrace their energy and capture their real personalities than spend the whole session trying to get the “perfect” photograph. Sometimes the photographs you didn’t plan for end up being the ones you love the most.
My aim as a Rutland family photographer is to create a relaxed and fun experience where you can forget about the camera and simply spend some quality time together. Whether you’re looking for family photographs with little ones, a session with older children, or simply want to document this stage of your family life, we’ll create a gallery full of genuine connection and memories for you to look back on.
So come prepared to run, play, laugh and get a little bit messy, I’ll take care of the photographs.

Mostly family photoshoots take place on location. If its not Rutland Water its a nice open space either in a country park or the woods.

British weather can be unpredictable! If the weather is genuinely unsuitable, we can simply rearrange your session for another date. A little wind, cloud or drizzle doesn't necessarily mean we need to cancel. I find it adds to the photos and still creates beautiful images.

Absolutely! Dogs are very welcome at my outdoor family sessions. They’re part of the family too, and I love capturing photographs of them alongside you.

You definitely won’t be the first! Most families tell me they feel a little awkward having their photograph taken, which is exactly why I don’t expect you to know how to pose. I’ll give you simple prompts and things to do together, so you can focus on your family rather than the camera. Before you know it, you’ll probably forget I’m even there.
